Pediatric neurologist

Child neurology is the branch of medicine that diagnoses, monitors over time and treats neurological disorders in newborns, infants, children and adolescents.

If you have doubts or suspect that your child has delays in psychomotor development, it is best to make sure during a specialist consultation, to rule out any problems with the normal functioning of the nervous system and to ensure harmonious development.

Up to the age of 24 months, visits to the neurologist are essential, especially at 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 and 24 months. At these ages children make important developmental leaps; even though every child grows at their own individual pace and does not necessarily fit these limits, the neurologist can assess whether their development is progressing well.

It is worth noting that some neurological conditions can appear at birth or later in life, but neurological monitoring is essential for children born prematurely.

Chin trembling, gaze deviation in a newborn or signs of hyperexcitability are clear signals that you should see a specialist.

Around the age of one, children begin their intellectual development – walking and talking – and violent behavior such as hitting their head with objects or banging it against the wall or floor, or delays in walking and talking, are already worrying signs.

In older children who can already express themselves, some conditions are easier to notice, since they can tell you directly what bothers them: frequent headaches, dizziness, trembling hands, speech disorders, hearing or vision problems – all these symptoms mean the child should have a neurological examination.
