Buttock augmentation

The procedure

For augmentation with implants, they are inserted through an incision in the coccyx area (at the top of the cleft between the buttocks), after which a pocket is created for the implants. They are placed in the upper half of the buttock to avoid injuring the sciatic nerve.

With lipofilling, the fat needed to enlarge the buttocks is obtained by liposuction from areas such as the thighs, abdomen or back. This fat, properly prepared, is injected through multiple tunnels to get a good, even result. It is practically a redistribution of fat.

Since a degree of reabsorption inevitably occurs, a volume 30-50% larger needs to be injected. The operation takes longer (2 hours on average, compared with 1.5 hours for implants) and is more laborious than with implants, but it has the great advantage that the scars are minimal, almost invisible.

After the operation

After the operation, relative rest is recommended for 2-3 days. Recovery time varies with the technique used: after implants, 7-15 days are recommended, while for lipofilling it is shorter. With buttock implants, certain types of exercise must be avoided for 4-6 weeks, and intramuscular injections should be avoided in the future.
