Mammologist

Mammology
is the medical specialty that diagnoses, treats and prevents diseases of the breast. The mammologist is in fact an oncologist with additional specialization in surgery, endocrinology and gynecology.

🎗️ Breast cancer has a high chance of being cured, but the most important thing with this disease is early diagnosis. As prevention, it is recommended to see a mammologist once a year, even if you have no symptoms.

The mammologist can detect the following types of conditions:

  • Benign or malignant tumors of the breast: sarcoma, lipoma, fibroadenoma;
  • Hormonal disorders: gynecomastia, cysts, mastopathy;
  • Congenital anomalies;
  • Mastitis — inflammation of the breast.

Symptoms of breast cancer:

  • Changes in the shape, consistency, size or appearance of the breasts and nipple;
  • A lump, usually painless, in the breast or armpit;
  • Bleeding or discharge from the nipple when it is squeezed;
  • Crusts on the nipple.
