Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is the enlargement of glandular tissue in men.

Enlarged glandular tissue can appear in adolescents during puberty and is temporary – it lasts a few months. It usually disappears within a year.

A mammogram is needed to show which type of tissue predominates.

Liposuction and Pseudogynecomastia

Male breast reduction can be done by liposuction, and the chest is one of the areas most often treated by liposuction in men, along with the flanks and the lower and upper abdomen. This technique can be used if fat tissue predominates. Pseudogynecomastia is the enlargement of fatty tissue and often appears in older men and in young men who are relatively obese.

The Surgical Method (Mastectomy)

If the glandular tissue is enlarged, the surgical method (mastectomy) is preferable.
