Lipofilling is the procedure of taking fat from the body, processing it and then injecting it into the areas that need a volume correction. Facial lipofilling is one of the most widely used methods in cosmetic facial rejuvenation surgery, restoring normal facial volume. Compared with other fillers used for facial wrinkles, fat is very well tolerated by the human body, behaving like an autograft. It also has a regenerating effect on the structures the fat graft comes into contact with.
How is the procedure done?
- The operation takes 2-3 hours.
- You will need local or general anesthesia, depending on the area to be treated. We will discuss this from the start.
The transplant of suctioned fat tissue is done in three phases:
- Harvesting fat tissue from the donor area;
- Purifying the suctioned fat by centrifugation;
- Reinjecting the fat with a three-dimensional reimplantation technique.
- You will stay in hospital for 12-24 hours
How do you prepare for the operation?
The precautions and recommendations before the operation are similar to those for other cosmetic surgery.
How does recovery go?
- You will need to take painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs and possibly antibiotics.
- You can return to your daily activities 4-7 days after the procedure.
What results can you expect?
In cosmetic surgery, lipofilling is considered a method with very good results, low risks and fast recovery. Excellent results are achieved for:
- smoothing the folds between the nose and mouth;
- reshaping the cheekbones and midface;
- volume in the temples;
- lip augmentation
Keep in mind!
Facial lipofilling can be combined with other rejuvenation methods, either minimally invasive (PRP, mesotherapy, resurfacing) or surgical (blepharoplasty, facelift).
Several fat transfer procedures to the face are needed. Facial fat transfer (facial lipofilling) can be repeated after 6 months if needed, since part of the transferred fat is known to be reabsorbed (40-60%).
