Lip augmentation or reshaping is a very popular procedure today. The most accessible way to improve the look of the lips is hyaluronic acid injections. Few people know, however, that hyaluronic acid injections are also used for purposes other than beauty:
Lip reshaping is recommended when there is:
- lip asymmetry (congenital, or after an injury or tumor removal)
- a gummy smile
- underdeveloped tissue (congenital hypotrophy)
- loss of volume with age or other age-related changes (wrinkles on the lips and around the mouth, loss of elasticity, volume and definition of the contour, dryness, paleness)

Preparing for the procedure:
Contour injections are fairly simple procedures that require no special preparation by the patient. The first step is a consultation with a dermatocosmetologist, who sets the goal of the correction and how to achieve it, selects the right type of hyaluronic acid, and assesses the likelihood of complications and any contraindications.
The injection is done under local anesthesia, so in most cases the patient feels no pain.
It takes about 20-40 minutes.
The effect of lip injections is immediate, but the final result can be judged after a few days, once the swelling has gone down. If needed, and on the doctor's advice, a small additional correction is done after about a month.
