Removal of benign skin lesions

Various growths can appear on the skin, such as papillomas, moles, warts and keratoses, as well as lipomas and cysts. Although they are benign and do not endanger your health, they can become irritated, bleed or get infected, and are easily injured. Many of them are also unsightly.

At the SANCOS clinic, these growths can be removed by various methods:

Removing benign skin tumors with the Lumenis AcuPulse CO2 laser is considered the most advanced method and has the following advantages:

Surgical excision

means completely removing benign lesions such as moles, cysts, lipomas or other skin lesions and growths. In most cases, the excised skin is sent for histopathological examination. The stitches are removed at the clinic after 7-14 days.

Electrocautery

destroys benign surface skin lesions such as papillomas, warts and moles through a procedure similar to burning, by direct contact with a metal loop connected to special equipment. After the procedure a crust forms, which must be left to heal naturally over 5-10 days. Scarring is minimal, usually the same size as the original lesion but level with the skin surface.

Cryotherapy

destroys benign surface skin lesions such as warts and papillomas, without local anesthesia, by applying liquid nitrogen at -100 degrees Celsius, which thermally destroys the unwanted lesions. After the procedure, a blister filled with clear fluid appears and has to be burst. For the next few days the treated area behaves like a burn, with a crust that must be left to fall off on its own, without being forced. Depigmented areas or superficial scars may appear.
